Suffixes
Remember that suffixes are affixes which are added to the end of a root word
(as opposed to prefixes which are affixes which are added to the beginning
of a word). Another common suffix is -able which means "able to" or "capable
of." Here are a few examples:
read + able = readable
reason + able = reasonable
wash + able = washable
wear + able = wearable
bend + able = bendable
depend + able = dependable
enjoy + able = enjoyable
chew + able = chewable
There are more words such as workable, bearable, taxable, and suitable which
all end with the -able suffix.
