Proper Nouns

Proper nouns can also be names of companies and brands. For instance, there are car companies (Ford, Toyota, Jeep, etc.), food companies (Pilsbury, Folger's, Nabisco, etc.), shoe companies (Nike, Adidas, New Balance, etc.), and computer companies (Compaq, Apple, Tangent, etc.). Names of restaurants are also proper nouns as are names of stores, parks, schools, etc. Here are some more sentences containing proper nouns.


  She took the kids to eat at The Burgermeister Burger Shop.

  They stopped at Hubert's Market for supplies.

  We stayed the night at the Sleep Away Motel.

As you can tell, there are lots of possible proper nouns. Here are a few more examples:

  She attends the Smithville Bible Church.

  He plans to attend Smithville Community College next year.

  They ate their lunch at the Smithville Community Park.
