Arithmetic - Fractions - Fractions of a Group
Fractions are written as one number above another with a line between them.
Here are some examples:

Fractions can be used to represent parts of a group. In the following
examples one part of each group is colored red. The top number (also called
the numerator) represents the number of parts colored red. The bottom number
(also called the denominator) represents the total number of circles in a
group. Try the following sample problems. To check the answer, highlight the
area between the parentheses.
SHOW THE FRACTION FOR EACH PICTURE:
ANSWER: (1/5 (one-fifth))
ANSWER: (1/4 (one-fourth))
