Arithmetic - Fractions - Fractions of a Group

Fractions are written as one number above another with a line between them. Here are some examples:

		1
	       ---	ONE HALF
		2

		1
	       ---	ONE FOURTH
		4

Fractions can be used to represent parts of a group. In the following examples one part of each group is colored red. The top number (also called the numerator) represents the number of parts colored red. The bottom number (also called the denominator) represents the total number of circles in a group. Try the following sample problems. To check the answer, highlight the area between the parentheses.
